On Security, Minorities, and Opportunistic Narcissism

At a global level, the last two decades have consistently witnessed encroachment of right-wing rhetoric and anti-minority logos, with several states clearly promoting discourse fear minorities. Seeing minorities either as ‘enemy within’ or political necessity that must be endured, are sceptical in how they recognise incorporate minority identities threaten ideologies national homogeneity. Adopting an anthropological perspective having engaged long-term research on Greece Italy, I argue state selectively recognises traits deemed ‘secure’ enough to incorporated into body policies governance what term opportunistic narcissism; process highlighting differences, territorialising them, finally claiming them for corpus.
